Season Updates         Steelhead fishing

May 12th, 2008

Well we have had a slow week since the rain last weekend.  Most of the guys here this last
week struggled to get into fish.  The picture below of the waterfall was a pretty scene but didn't
get us a hook up.  The majority of fish we are catching are darker fish.  My only explanation
would be that the spring run hasn't really got going yet.  We need some more rain to get them
moving in.  A new group of fishermen arrived Saturday and we have had a few hookups each
day but no big numbers yet.  Today we had to battle 40 mph gusts and driving rain so it was less
than ideal.  The picture on the bottom is of the wind chop on the river and a gust blows by.  The
guys I had out today were troopers about the weather conditions.  We only managed one fish on
and it got away but I told them it could only get better from here.  One of the other vehicles got
into a few more hook ups and they lost a big one.  The good thing is it did rain today.  That
should good for these guys as they fish the rest of the week.  I'll keep you posted.
