Season Updates

October 3rd, 2007

This week have had the pleasure of hosting the television show Higher Ground
Outdoors.  They are up here for a Black Bear hunt.  Every episode they take an
American hero on a hunt of a lifetime.  This hunt was no different.  The hero,
Glenn, got a nice bear while hunting the creeks.  As you can see in the picture
below they had a great time.  We are looking forward to having Higher Ground
Outdoors back this spring for another bear hunt with Mathews Archery.

There are still coho in the rivers and not a lot of fishing pressure.  The weather
has gotten cooler and fall has definitely taken hold.  We even had a light dusting
of snow in the upper elevations of the island this week.

I took a morning off this week to deer hunt and got a
very small forked horn for
the freezer.  The deer hunting is just picking up and we are headed home for the
winter.  I know of several nice deer spotted down low this week so the deer are
starting to move down in better numbers.  We may be open for hunting during
the rut for Sitka Blacktail Deer next year if we get enough bookings to make it
worth while.  If you are interested in that hunt send an email to
info@thornebaylodge.com.  I will also have a DVD of our Steelhead fishing
completed shortly and I will post it on the website when it is complete if you
would like a copy.  I will also be updating the website with new pictures and
information in the coming weeks.

Our season is coming to an end.  We are looking towards next season now.
Remember to put a deposit down on your trip for next year.  Many of the good
weeks are filling up.
